The day a recovery day turns out to be fun, give me a call!!!
New year, blank training diary, positive temperatures and still feeling sour. Probably the worse way to stay the year, but still. Had a good 90 minutes run yesterday, light core aaaaaaand it was already only 11am… How to fill the rest of this first day of the year? Laundry? Done. Vaccuumcleaning? Done. Tidying? Done (most of it). So really, what was left was to just do not much 😦 and listen to the rain falling. The only annoying thing (certainly among many others) when getting a place on the couch in front of the tv, is that it gives headache… Yes, can assure this. And by 5pm I felt just so extremely terribly bad that it felt like time to go to bed. Arranged a lunch for Saturday and then just headed to bed. And of course, THEN there is no way to be able to sleep. Just headache in the dark (and still listening to the rain…).
SOOOO, when opening the eyes this morning, 2nd day of the new year, it felt like a blessing that the headache was gone. Started to press my oranges and mix my disgusting green mix…when…I just remembered…it was rest day today… 😦 NOOOOOOOoooooo! When I was just feeling good, the weather is better since a few days and it is time to get some rest 😦 Why? Surely because the program says so. But not only. Really trying to get some good recovery so the body can take even more and better training workouts. So rest days are necessary evils. Back to the couch, back to watching rubbish on tv. Actually it was suiting well because the weather forecast had announced an alarm for stormy weather… (Hmmmm, when writing this post, it is 8:30pm and I am still waiting for the storm to come…). Anyhow, considered several times to get on the mat for doing some strength exercises…but once again…it IS rest day!. By 3pm I got enough and the little person in my head did say to lift the butt, get dressed and go out. Which I did. A bit of walking in the city. Disappointedly not founding a single “regular” clothe. Went to eat lunch (indecently late) at a Chinese buffet restaurant (which I regret now, because my stomach is upset) and then got back home after 2 hours with training basics for me and presents for others. Well arrived, the home was still in no need for laundry, cleaning or whatever such activity (OK, maybe the windows need a bit of work, but not now in the middle of the winter!). So on with the evil tv. But this time it took only short before changing and heading to the mat for core & stability training. Yapp, the other little person in my head did recognise that despite being a rest day, core&stability could be considered as low-intensity activity 🙂 And it feels so good afterwards. TRY IT! This time I even added to the Swiss Ball serie some Ball Knee tucks. I generally have Ball pikes, but today it was added this new one. Maybe not too smart to do both following each other in the serie, but when it is done…it feels soooo good (yes, I said it already!).
Summary of the day: waste of most of the time in idling in front of the tv. Not even enjoying it. Well-used 37minutes for strength training and a bit of walking. Rest days, please, make yourself a bit more fun in the future. That would help to even maybe look forward to you 🙂
Countdown has started….
